Dennis Wideman Suspended Indefinitely Pending A Hearing

So, there you have it. Indefinite suspension for Dennis Wideman for hitting an official from behind with, what I believe, and it appears the NHL also believes, is pretty clear intent. I’m sure this will settle things and everyone who thought it was a concussion induced accident or completely unintentional will admit they’re wrong and say this is warranted. The NHL is actually impressively transparent when it comes to their suspensions so I’ll be interested to see their video breakdown when that comes out (I believe that will be after the hearing), but it looks like they’re not buying the “I didn’t see him” excuse either. I still think he reared back then followed through and finished his hit, so I still think it should be rest of the year. Step in the right direction here.
